Reawakening
In a world that constantly demands we evolve, there are times when we lose ourselves while trying to accommodate someone else. I once saw myself as a lone hero, embodying a personality much like Batman’s—resilient, self-reliant, and fiercely independent. I thrived in solitude, where my strengths were my own, and my vulnerabilities were hidden behind a mask of stoic confidence.
But then, someone entered my life, and everything changed. This person made me feel cared for, comfortable, and valued in ways I hadn't experienced before. In their presence, I found myself letting down my guard, adapting to their world, and slowly shifting from the solitary figure I once was into someone who sought comfort and connection. It was a beautiful transformation, one that felt natural and right as long as they were by my side.
Yet, as the days turned into months, I began to realize something unsettling. I was losing myself in the process. The traits that once defined me—my independence, my resilience—started to fade. I had become so engrossed in this new way of being, this new person I was becoming for them, that I forgot who I was at the core. And now, as the relationship has moved on and the person is no longer in my life, I find myself reflecting on this loss.
